Here’s where owners get stuck. Delta’s “universal” claim doesn’t cover the rough-in depth. If your original installer set the valve body too shallow for a thick quartz countertop, a direct replacement won’t seat properly without reaming the deck. We measure rough-in depth with a depth gauge before quoting, because guessing means a second trip. For aftermarket equivalents, we specify BrassCraft or Danco only when the customer requests cost reduction; otherwise we quote Delta OEM and note the part number on the written estimate so you can verify it yourself.

Signs Your Delta Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

• Dripping from the spout base when the handle is off. This usually means the ceramic disc cartridge has cracked or the rubber seats have hardened. • Finish discoloration or pitting around the aerator and handle bases. Chromium plating failure from chloride exposure or abrasive cleaning. Delta’s Brilliance finishes hold up better than standard chrome in our experience, but no finish survives steel wool.
• Low flow from one mode (spray vs. stream) only. The diverter valve is jammed with sediment. In San Jose, where water hardness runs 180-320 ppm depending on whether you’re on Hetch Hetchy or local well supply, this is a three-year maintenance item, not a defect.
