If you see mud, not crushed aggregate, the drainage has failed and the repair is beyond a weekend project. Check the channel drain grate; if it’s merely clogged with leaves, clear it. But if water backs up when you run a hose into the grate, the underground line may be broken or bellied, and that’s a dig.

Where DIY goes wrong: re-leveling pavers without recompacting the base buys you six months before they’re rocking again.
