For rollers, locks, and operators, we often spec Truth Hardware or Amesbury aftermarket equivalents that match the original dimensions but carry a longer warranty. The decision point is tolerance: if your original sash wobbles in the track by more than an eighth-inch, an OEM roller won’t fix an out-of-square frame, and we’ll tell you that before we quote.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground. You can verify the model number, measure the daylight opening (width by height of the visible glass, not the frame), and photograph the failed component. That saves us both a trip if the part is standard.

Where DIY goes wrong: removing a fixed sash without supporting the frame can distort the jamb enough that the replacement won’t seal. Second, ActiveYards’ multipoint locks require precise keeper alignment; a sixteenth-inch error and the lock won’t engage all three points, leaving you with a security gap and a failed inspection if you’re selling. Third, any work above ground level on a ladder introduces fall risk we don’t think homeowners should take for a $40 part.
