DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check yourself: lift a loose paver at the edge and measure its thickness to confirm your series; probe joint depth with a screwdriver to see if sand has eroded below 1 inch; photograph any cracks in the edge restraint concrete for reference. These observations help us quote accurately when you call.

Where DIY goes wrong: base repair requires removing pavers without disturbing the pattern, excavating to 6-8 inches, recompacting Class II aggregate in lifts with a plate compactor, and re-establishing pitch toward drainage. Skip the compaction lifts and you’ll be back at it in 18 months. The polymeric sand application is also fussy. It must be swept dry, compacted to vibrate into joints, then misted precisely; too much water activates the binder prematurely and leaves a haze that etches the paver face.
