Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn’s window and door catalog breaks into several series, and the part you need depends on when your unit was manufactured. The Heritage Series vinyl windows (common in San Jose subdivisions built 2012-2019) use a constant-force balance system with a stamped metal channel that wears at the pivot shoe. The Ascend Series fiberglass units, popular in Willow Glen and Almaden Valley renovations, run a block-and-tackle balance with a 5/8-inch wide housing that is not interchangeable with the Heritage channel. The door lines - Heritage and Reserve - share multipoint lock hardware across most entry units, but the handle set bore spacing changed from 3-5/8 inches to 5-1/2 inches around 2016.

Signs Your Wellborn Windows & Doors Is Failing

• Window sash drops or won’t stay open. The balance system - either constant-force coil or block-and-tackle - has lost tension or the pivot shoe has cracked. In San Jose’s dry summers, the plastic pivot shoes on older Heritage units become brittle and shear off cleanly.
